Tyrannosaurus

Tie-RAN-oh-SORE-us – “Tyrant reptile”

 

Tyrannosaurus lived during the Late Cretaceous (65 million years ago) of the central Rocky Mountain region. A large theropod (“beast foot”), Tyrannosaurus was a carnivorous (meat-eating) dinosaur from the end of the “Age of Reptiles”. A current debate rages over whether Tyrannosaurus was it an active hunter or a scavenger of carrion.
