The Cincinnati Dry Dredgers is an organization of amateur fossil-collectors who have been meeting in Cincinnati since April of 1942. The club publishes a newsletter and is one of the two organizations that co-sponsor the Cincinnati rock, mineral, gem, and fossil show every spring.
Meetings
The organization generally meet on the fourth Friday evening of the month, except during the Summer. The meeting-place generally is in Braunstein Hall on the campus of the University of Cincinnati. For information on upcoming meetings, please, visit their web-site.
Beginners' Classes
Prior to the start of many of their meetings, the Dry Dredgers host sessions for folks who are beginners in the world of fossil-collecting. The idea is to introduce some topic related to fossil-collecting, ----- at an appropriate level for beginners. For information on upcoming classes, please, visit their web-site.
Field-trips
The group sponsors a number of fossil-collecting field-trips during the year. There generally is at least one a month during the field-season. For information on upcoming field-trips, please, check their web-site for a schedule of upcoming field-trips.
THE CINCINNATI MINERAL SOCIETY
The Cincinnati Mineral Society is an organization of amateur mineral-collectors. (This is one of the two organizations that co-sponsor the Cincinnati rock, mineral, gem, and fossil show every spring.)
Meetings
They meet routinely on the second Friday evening of the month. The meeting place generally is the education building at Sharon Woods. For information on upcoming meetings, please, visit their web-site.

THE CINCINNATI MINERAL AND FOSSIL SHOW
This annual event is planned and operated jointly by the Cincinnati Mineral Society and the Dry Dredgers.

The Cincinnati Observatory is the oldest professional astronomical observatory in the United States. It houses and operates the oldest professional astronomical telescope in The Western Hemisphere.
When
The Observatory is open to the Public on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings. Visitors may look through the telescope, weather permitting. (For information on scheduling a visit, see the Observatory's web-site.)
History tours are offered on the second and fourth Sunday afternoon of each month, 1300 - 1600 (= 1 - 4 p.m.).

THE GREATER CINCINNATI HERPETOLOGICAL SOCIETY
The Greater Cincinnati Herpetological Society, founded in 1977, is an organization committed to the welfare of reptiles and amphibians.
When
Regular meetings of the Society are on the first Wednesday evening of each month at 1900 (= 7 p.m.).
