Preface

This is, by no means, a complete list. It is, rather, a work in progress. From time to time, additional entries will be made.

For some of the genera, there are links to taxonomic listings. More will be added later, of course.

If you note any errors or have other comments, please, contact me with proposed corrections, deletions, additions, and so on.

FAUNAL LISTS AND INDICES

There have been published quite a number of faunal lists and indices to type-Cincinnatian rocks, many of them produced by "members" of what has been called "The Cincinnati School of Paleontology".

Commonly these compilations do not give precise information as to exactly where specimens of the taxa reported actually were collected. Moreover, commonly they do not indicate the sources of the information. In short, the user of the publications listed below would be wise to check with the primary literature as well.

Dalvé, Elizabeth, 1948, The fossil fauna of the Ordovician in the Cincinnati region: University Museum, Department of Geology and Geography, University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati, Ohio, II + 56 p.

Harper, G. W., and R. S. Bassler, 1896, Catalogue of the fossils of the Trenton and Cincinnati Periods, occurring in the vicinity of Cincinnati, O.: W. B. Carpenter Co., Cincinnati, Ohio, 34 p.

ABOUT THIS WEB-PAGE -- Caveat lector !

This web-page was constructed using MS-Word 2000 and its version of html and has been modified using MS-FrontPage 2000 and its version of html. The results have been previewed by way of MS Internet Explorer version 5.5. Unfortunately, things that look fine when viewed with Internet Explorer sometimes look rather peculiar when viewed with Netscape. For example, there can be unexpected and unpredictable changes in the size, shape, style of type, or some combination of these. Moreover, sometimes different versions of Internet Explorer do not present the same web‑page in the same way; for example, hyphens in one version can mutate into empty rectangles in another. Alas!
