Biography

I have been a social worker for over 25 years. My experience includes working with individuals, groups, and families in public and private agencies. I have experience working in low-income communities, group work with children and adolescents, couples therapy, employee assistance programs, and psychiatric emergency services. I maintain a small private practice so that I can continue to practice as well as teach. I find that continuing to practice assists me to infuse social work theory with examples that keeps my teaching lively and current.

My present areas of interest are social policy, child abuse, domestic violence, sexual addiction, and sexual deviance.

As program director of social work I am committed to preparing bachelor level social work students for the exciting career in the social work profession.

I have been married to Mary Lou for over thirty years. My comrade -wife is a systems analyst at the University of Cincinnati. I have a daughter, Amy, who is now working with the American Federation of Teachers in New York City. Amy is also pursuing her doctorate in Education at Columbia University. Amy had been a teacher in the Bronx for over 14 years.
